Full bloom is where we have at least 90% of blossoms flowering. Every variety of stone fruit has a certain number of days between full bloom and expected harvest - this is called the fruit development period.
In this particular variety of nectarines, we work on it being approximately 100 days from full bloom to ripe fruit ready for picking! This is a short fruit development period in comparison to other varieties of peaches and nectarines on our orchard!
The longest fruit development period for our varieties of stone fruit here at Glenbernie Orchard is around 120 days. The extra 20 days is a long time in stone fruit time!
